From July 1, 2026, the EU abolishes the €150 duty-free exemption on imported parcels. All parcels from non-EU countries now incur a flat €3 customs duty plus VAT. Calculate the total cost of your Temu, Shein, AliExpress, or any non-EU online order.

EU Parcel Import Duty Calculator — What Changed in 2026

Previously, parcels valued under €150 entering the EU were exempt from customs duty (though VAT still applied). The EU Council abolished this exemption on February 11, 2026, effective July 1, 2026. As an interim measure, a flat-rate customs duty of €3 per parcel applies to all low-value consignments. This means every package from platforms like Temu, Shein, AliExpress, Wish, and other non-EU sellers now costs €3 more in duty on top of the existing VAT.

Why the Change?

Key Reasons

  • Level the playing field between direct imports and EU-based retailers
  • Reduce abuse of the €150 threshold (undervaluation of parcels)
  • Combat unfair competition from ultra-cheap non-EU e-commerce
  • Part of broader EU customs reform package

VAT Rates by EU Country

VAT on imported goods has always applied, even before the duty change. VAT rates vary across EU member states from 17% (Luxembourg) to 27% (Hungary). The VAT is calculated on the product value plus shipping cost. This calculator uses your country's standard VAT rate to give you the total landed cost.

Example

  • Product price: €25.00
  • Shipping: €3.00

  • German VAT (19%): €5.89
  • Total landed cost: €36.89 (vs €33.32 before July 2026)
