How to Play Thread Words
Thread Words is a word search puzzle where every letter in the grid belongs to a hidden themed word. Your goal is to find all the words by tracing paths through adjacent letters. Letters can connect horizontally, vertically, or diagonally, but each letter can only be used once across all words. Start by reading the hint, then tap or click letters to build a path. When you think you have a word, hit Submit. The spangram is a special word that spans the grid and reveals the puzzle theme. After 3 wrong guesses, you can use a hint to reveal one word automatically.
Daily Puzzle vs Practice Mode
Thread Words offers two ways to play. The Daily Puzzle gives everyone the same puzzle each day, perfect for comparing results with friends. Your daily streak tracks how many consecutive days you solve the puzzle. Practice Mode lets you play unlimited random puzzles to sharpen your skills. Both modes track your stats including games played, win rate, and average number of hints used. Switch between modes using the toggle at the top of the game.
Tips for Solving Thread Words
Start by looking for the spangram — it usually spans from one side of the grid to the other and reveals the theme. Once you know the theme, the other words become easier to spot. Look for common letter patterns like TH, ING, TION, and ER. If you are stuck, use the hint button after 3 wrong guesses to reveal a word. Remember that every single letter in the grid belongs to exactly one word, so if you see unused letters, there is definitely a word hiding there. Pay attention to diagonal connections — they are easy to miss but often form key parts of longer words.
