How the Research Paper Cover Page Generator Works

Creating a properly formatted cover page is one of the first steps in submitting any academic paper. Different citation styles have strict requirements for title page layout, font choices, spacing, and information hierarchy. Our cover page generator automates this process by letting you enter your paper details once and instantly generating a correctly formatted title page in your chosen style.

Simply fill in your paper title, author names, institution, course, instructor, and date. Select your required formatting style from the dropdown, and the live preview updates immediately. When you are satisfied, download the cover page as a high-resolution PNG image or a print-ready PDF document.

Cover Page Formats Explained

APA 7th Edition requires a running head (shortened title) in the header, the full title centered in the upper half of the page, followed by the author name(s) and institutional affiliation. Student papers include course number, instructor name, and due date.

MLA 9th Edition does not use a separate title page by default, but when required by instructors, it centers the title in the middle of the page with the author name, instructor, course, and date stacked in the lower third.

Chicago/Turabian style places the title centered at approximately one-third down the page, the author name centered at two-thirds, and class information at the bottom.

IEEE format features a bold centered title at the top, authors with institutional affiliations below, and an abstract section — typical for conference and journal submissions.

Harvard style centers all information on the page with the title prominently displayed, followed by author details and submission information.

Tips for a Professional Cover Page

Always double-check your instructor's specific requirements, as some professors modify standard formats. Use your full legal name as it appears in university records. For group papers, list authors in the order agreed upon by your team or alphabetically if no order is specified. Ensure the date matches your submission deadline, not the date you started writing.

When downloading, PNG format works well for digital submissions and online portals, while PDF is preferred for printing and formal submissions. Both formats maintain the correct proportions and font rendering of your cover page.
