Habit Streak Tracker
Build lasting habits with daily check-ins and streak tracking. Your habits are your business — all data stays on your device, never touches any server. No account needed.
Why Track Habit Streaks?
Research shows that consistency is the single most important factor in forming new habits. Tracking your streaks provides visual accountability and motivation — once you see a long streak, you become more reluctant to break it. This "don't break the chain" method was famously used by Jerry Seinfeld to write jokes daily.
How This Tracker Works
Add any habit you want to build. Each day, click the calendar to mark the habit as done. The tracker automatically calculates your current streak, longest streak, and overall completion rate. All data is saved locally in your browser using localStorage — nothing is sent to any server.
Streak Science
Current Streak = consecutive days completed (ending today/yesterday)
Completion Rate = (days completed / total days tracked) x 100%
Research: 66 days average to form an automatic habit (Lally et al., 2010)
Tips for Building Habits
- Start small: Begin with 2-minute versions of habits
- Stack habits: Attach new habits to existing routines
- Never miss twice: One miss is an accident, two is a new pattern
- Track visually: Seeing your streak motivates consistency
