How the TV Show Episode Guide Works
This tool connects to the TVmaze public API — a comprehensive, free television database with complete episode information for thousands of shows worldwide. When you search for a show, the tool fetches matching results and displays key details: network, premiere year, genre, and average rating. Clicking a show loads its complete episode list grouped by season, with each episode showing its air date, runtime, community rating, and plot summary.
TVmaze covers shows from every major network (NBC, HBO, BBC, Netflix, Amazon) and many international broadcasters. Data is cached in your browser for 24 hours so repeat lookups are instant.
Browsing Seasons and Episodes
Once you open a show, use the season tabs to jump between seasons quickly. Each episode card shows the episode number, title, original air date, runtime in minutes, and a rating out of 10. For ongoing shows, the next scheduled episode is highlighted with an accent border and a "Next Episode" badge so you can quickly see when new episodes drop.
The show stats bar at the top displays total episode count, total seasons, average rating across all rated episodes, and the show's current status (Running, Ended, or In Development). This gives you a quick at-a-glance summary before diving into the episode list.
About TVmaze Data
TVmaze is maintained by a community of TV enthusiasts and professionals. It covers over 50,000 shows and 1.5 million episodes across all major streaming platforms and broadcast networks. Ratings are community-sourced, similar to IMDb's model, and are updated as new episodes air.
The TVmaze API is completely free and requires no authentication, making it ideal for browser-based tools. All requests are made directly from your browser — no data passes through our servers. Episode data is accurate as of TVmaze's last update, which typically happens within hours of a new episode airing. Last updated: March 2026.
Tips for Finding Shows
Use the exact show name for the most accurate results. If you're searching for a show with a common word in the title (like "Office" or "House"), try adding the network name or year to narrow down results. The search returns up to 10 matching shows ranked by relevance. For animated series, anime, and international shows, TVmaze has excellent coverage — try searching for "Attack on Titan" or "Dark" for German language shows.
