Combined SSC + HSC GPA
University admission circulars ask for a minimum combined GPA: SSC GPA plus HSC GPA, out of 10. Each circular sets its own minimum, and some count the GPA without the 4th subject.
How HSC GPA is calculated
Every subject gets a letter grade and a grade point from its marks. Add the grade points of all subjects except the 4th subject. If you have a 4th subject, add only the part of its grade point above 2.00. Divide the total by the number of subjects, not counting the 4th. The result cannot go above 5.00.
HSC GPA with 4th subject and without 4th subject
The 4th subject (চতুর্থ বিষয় / ঐচ্ছিক বিষয়) can only help. An A+ in it adds 3 points to your total, an A adds 2, an A- adds 1.5, a B adds 1, and a C or lower adds nothing. A fail in the 4th subject does not fail the exam and does not reduce your GPA.
Example for HSC Science with six main subjects: Bangla A (4.00), English A (4.00), ICT A+ (5.00), Physics A (4.00), Chemistry A- (3.50), Higher Mathematics A (4.00) total 24.50. Without a 4th subject the GPA is 24.50 ÷ 6 = 4.08. With Biology as 4th subject at A+ you add 3, so 27.50 ÷ 6 = 4.58.
Some admission circulars ask for the GPA without the 4th subject. The calculator shows both numbers every time, so you can read the one the circular asks for.
What is GPA 5 and “Golden A+”?
GPA 5.00 means your average, after the 4th-subject bonus, reached the maximum. “Golden A+” is not a board term. People use it for a result with A+ in every subject. The board certificate only prints GPA 5.00 in both cases, but the marksheet shows each subject's grade.
When do you fail?
An F in any subject other than the 4th means the result is not passed, and no GPA is given, however high the other grades are. F is below 33 out of 100, or below 66 out of 200 for a two-paper subject. Boards also apply separate pass rules to written, MCQ and practical parts of a subject; this calculator works from the subject total or the letter grade on your marksheet.
HSC subjects and full marks
Most HSC subjects have two papers of 100 marks each, and the grade is given on the combined 200: Bangla, English, and the group subjects such as Physics, Chemistry, Accounting or Economics. ICT is a single 100-mark subject. A typical HSC result counts six subjects plus one 4th subject. Alim follows the same grade points under the Madrasah Education Board. Choose “out of 200” for a two-paper subject and enter the combined marks.
HSC result 2026 and re-scrutiny
If the GPA on your marksheet does not match what you work out here, first check that you entered the grade for each whole subject and marked the right 4th subject. If a subject grade itself looks wrong, boards open a short window after results for re-scrutiny (board challenge) through Teletalk SMS. Re-scrutiny re-adds the marks on the script; it does not re-mark the answers. Dates and the fee are in your board's notice for that year.

How is HSC GPA calculated in Bangladesh?
Add the grade points of all subjects except the 4th subject, add the part of the 4th subject's grade point that is above 2.00, and divide by the number of subjects not counting the 4th. The result is capped at 5.00.

What is HSC GPA without 4th subject?
It is the grade points of the main subjects divided by their number, with no bonus from the 4th subject. Some admission circulars ask for this figure. The calculator shows it next to the GPA with the 4th subject.
What is combined GPA of SSC and HSC?
It is your SSC GPA plus your HSC GPA, out of 10. For example SSC 4.83 and HSC 4.50 give a combined GPA of 9.33. Each university circular sets its own minimum.
What is Golden A+ in HSC?
It is an informal name for getting A+ in every subject. The board does not use the term; the certificate shows GPA 5.00 either way.
