FAANG Total Compensation Calculator
FAANG offers are deceptively complex — base salary is just one piece. Calculate the real Year-1 and 4-year average total compensation including unvested RSUs, refresh grants, and sign-on prorations.

FAANG (Facebook/Meta, Apple, Amazon, Netflix, Google) offers combine base salary, target bonus, sign-on, and a 4-year RSU vest. The headline number is the total package over 4 years — but the vesting schedule (front-loaded, linear, or back-loaded) dramatically affects when you actually receive the money.
Vesting Schedule Comparison
Google, Apple, Microsoft: linear 25/25/25/25 over 4 years — predictable annual comp. Amazon: 5/15/40/40 — back-loaded; Year 1 stock is small, Years 3–4 dominate. Amazon offsets with larger sign-on bonuses paid in Y1+Y2. Meta: 33/33/34 over 3 years with a refresh in Year 2 — fastest vest but cliff risk if you leave.
Sign-On Splits
Sign-on bonuses are typically paid as a lump sum (Year 1) at Google, Apple, Meta. Amazon splits sign-on across Y1 and Y2 to offset back-loaded vest. Clawback clauses are standard — leave before 1–2 years and you repay pro-rata. Read the offer letter clawback section before quitting current job.
Refresh Grants
FAANG companies issue annual refresh grants — additional RSU grants in Years 2–4 to offset the depletion of the original grant. Refresh size varies by performance rating: high performers get 60–100% of new-hire grant; meets-expectations gets 30–50%; underperformers get nothing. Without refreshes, Year 4+ comp drops sharply.
