The 2028 Health FSA limit is projected at $3,400 (IRS COLA). The Dependent Care FSA stays at $5,000 ($2,500 MFS) — that statutory limit hasn't moved since 1986 despite inflation. Health FSAs allow $640 carryover to the following year; Dependent Care FSAs do not.

2028 Projected Limits

Health FSA: $3,400 employee election. Dep Care FSA: $5,000 if single or MFJ ($2,500 MFS). Both pre-tax. FICA also avoided — total tax savings can exceed 30% of contribution for high earners in high-tax states.

Use-It-or-Lose-It

Health FSA: 75-day grace period OR $640 carryover (employer chooses one). Dep Care FSA: no carryover. Forfeit by Dec 31 (or Mar 15 with grace period). Over-electing wastes money — plan based on confirmed expenses.

HSA vs FSA

You generally cannot have both HSA and full Health FSA — only limited-purpose FSA (dental/vision) alongside HSA. Dep Care FSA can coexist with HSA. If you have HDHP, HSA is usually better (rollover, investable, no forfeit).
