Each level is ten rounds, each round is a grid of four to nine items, and exactly one of them breaks a rule you were never told. Your score is how fast you found it and how often you were right — so progress is visible session to session rather than promised. It is a visual puzzle game in the strict sense: nothing is hidden behind a menu, nothing depends on vocabulary or general knowledge, and the whole answer is on screen from the first second.

What Makes One Item the Odd One Out

The rule changes every round, which is the entire difficulty. It might be a shape with one extra side, a colour a shade off its neighbours, a number that breaks a sequence, a rotation everything else shares, or a spacing that is subtly wrong. Early tiers use one obvious difference. Later tiers layer two rules so that the item breaking the loud rule is a decoy and the real answer breaks the quiet one. Learning to check a second attribute after you have found the first is the single skill that moves you up the tiers.

Odd One Out Strategy — Scan, Do Not Stare

• Sweep before you commit. Look across the whole grid once without deciding. The odd item usually surfaces on the sweep; staring at candidates one by one is slower and worse.
• Name the rule out loud. "All squares, all blue, all upright." Once the rule is explicit, the exception is obvious. Most wrong taps happen when you never actually decided what the pattern was.
• Suspect the first thing you noticed. In higher tiers the loudest difference is often the decoy. If something jumped out instantly, check whether a second attribute is also varying.
• Speed comes last. The time bonus is smaller than the cost of a wrong answer. Accuracy first, then the clock.
