Blockout is a free tap away puzzle online where colored blocks fill a grid, each marked with a directional arrow. Your goal is to figure out the extraction order puzzle — tap blocks to slide them off the grid in the correct sequence. This block puzzle game free of ads and logins runs entirely in your browser with 200 levels and a fresh daily challenge.
Each block shows an arrow pointing up, down, left, or right. Tap a block to attempt sliding it out. If every cell between the block and the edge of the grid in that direction is empty, the block slides off with a satisfying animation. If another block is in the way, the tap fails and you lose a heart. Start by identifying blocks on the edges with clear exit paths, then work inward as new paths open. Mastering this extraction order puzzle means planning several moves ahead — earn 3 stars by clearing the board with zero wrong taps.
Blockout offers four difficulty tiers across 200 levels. Easy puzzles use a 4x4 grid with 6 to 8 blocks. Medium scales up to 5x5 with 10 to 12 blocks and fewer hearts. Hard uses a 6x6 grid with up to 18 blocks, and Expert pushes to 7x7 with 24 blocks. Each tier has 50 levels that must be completed in order. Collect stars from easier tiers to unlock harder ones. The daily puzzle gives everyone the same board each day to compare results.
Beyond the classic normal block, Blockout layers in four special block types once you reach Medium tier. Ice blocks show a "2x" badge and need two taps to break — the first tap cracks the surface without costing a heart. Locked blocks display a padlock and dim overlay; they refuse to open until you first tap their matching Key block, marked with a key icon. Bomb blocks explode when tapped, clearing themselves plus any orthogonally adjacent blocks in one chain reaction, though they can never force open a locked block. Chain blocks appear as numbered pairs joined by a dashed link line — tap 1 before 2 or the chain punishes you with a lost heart. Every 10th level from tier 2 onward is a boss level (marked with a star on the level grid) that stacks 2-3 special types into a single puzzle.
Blockout rewards flow with a combo meter. Chain correct taps within 800ms and the counter climbs: 3x unlocks a 1.5x score multiplier, 5x doubles, 8x triples. A fire banner pops on, score numbers float upward from each block, colored particles burst on every pop, and the level complete screen crescendos — stars scale-pop in one at a time, score counts up with an easing animation, and a confetti rain fires on any 3-star performance. An optional 🔊 sound toggle in the top bar adds synthesized tap, bomb, and victory chord sounds, all muted by default and persisted in your browser. Reduced-motion users automatically skip the particle effects.
