연말정산 세액공제 계산기 2026 (Korea Year-End Tax Credit Calculator)

Estimate the main tax credits (세액공제) an employee can claim in the Korean year-end tax settlement, 연말정산. Enter your total salary and what you paid into pension accounts, protection-type insurance, medical care and education; the calculator applies the rates and limits published by the National Tax Service. A tax credit reduces the tax you owe. It is not the same as your refund, which also depends on how much tax your employer withheld during the year.

연말정산, the Korean year-end tax settlement, is the yearly true-up of an employee's income tax: the employer compares the tax withheld from each pay with the final tax due after deductions and credits, then refunds or collects the difference. This calculator estimates four of the main tax credits (세액공제) from the amounts you paid during the year.

연말정산 tax credit rates and limits

CreditEligible amountRate
Pension account (연금계좌)Up to KRW 6,000,000 of pension savings; KRW 9,000,000 including retirement pension accounts15% if total salary is KRW 55,000,000 or less; otherwise 12%
Protection-type insurance (보장성보험)Up to KRW 1,000,000 a year12%
Medical expenses, other dependantsAmount above 3% of total salary, up to KRW 7,000,00015%
Medical expenses, self, aged 65 or over, aged 6 or under, disabledNo upper limit15%
Education expensesEmployee: full amount. Pre-school to high school: KRW 3,000,000 per child. University: KRW 9,000,000 per student. Graduate school for dependants: not eligible15%

The salary test for the higher pension rate is KRW 55,000,000 of total salary for people with employment income only (KRW 45,000,000 of global income otherwise). Medical costs for fertility treatment (30%) and for premature or congenitally ill babies (20%) have their own rates and are not part of this estimate.

Worked example

An employee with total salary of KRW 60,000,000 pays KRW 4,000,000 into a pension savings account, KRW 1,000,000 of protection-type insurance premiums and KRW 3,000,000 of medical bills for a dependant. Pension credit: salary is above KRW 55,000,000, so 12% of KRW 4,000,000 = KRW 480,000. Insurance credit: 12% of KRW 1,000,000 = KRW 120,000. Medical credit: 3% of salary is KRW 1,800,000, so KRW 1,200,000 qualifies and 15% of it is KRW 180,000. Total credits: KRW 780,000.

How the medical threshold works

Only medical spending above 3% of total salary counts. The calculator sets the threshold against the capped group first. If spending for ordinary dependants is below the threshold, the shortfall is taken off the uncapped group (yourself, people aged 65 or over, children aged 6 or under and disabled dependants) before the 15% rate is applied. Costs reimbursed by private medical insurance do not qualify.

What is not included

The credit card usage deduction is an income deduction, not a tax credit, and is left out, as are the wage and salary tax credit, child credit, donation credit and monthly rent credit. Rules shown are those on the National Tax Service site when this page was checked in October 2026; the tax law can change for a later settlement.
