CCPA CPRA Violation Penalty 2027 Calculator
California Consumer Privacy Act fines under Civil Code § 1798.155, at the inflation-adjusted amounts in force since 1 January 2025: not more than $2,663 for each violation, or $7,988 for each intentional violation and for violations involving the personal information of consumers the violator actually knows are under 16. The amounts are adjusted every odd-numbered year; the January 2027 figures were not posted when this page was updated. The calculator shows the statutory maximum only.
Per-Violation Maximums
Civil Code § 1798.155(a) sets administrative fines of not more than $2,663 for each violation, or $7,988 for each intentional violation and each violation involving the personal information of consumers whom the violator has actual knowledge are under 16 years of age. The civil penalty amounts in § 1798.199.90(a) are the same. Before 1 January 2025 the amounts were $2,500 and $7,500.
Inflation Adjustment
Every odd-numbered year, Civil Code § 1798.199.95(d) adjusts the monetary thresholds in the CCPA to reflect changes in the Consumer Price Index. The 2025 adjustment also raised the private-action damages range in § 1798.150(a)(1)(A) to not less than $107 and not greater than $799 per consumer per incident, or actual damages, whichever is greater.
What the Calculator Shows
Violations × the per-violation maximum. Example: 50,000 violations × $2,663 = $133,150,000. This is a ceiling. How violations are counted and what amount is actually sought or imposed depends on the case, and this page does not estimate it.
