Concessionary Levy — Documentation

MOM verifies through cross-system data. Eligibility documents: (1) Child/grandchild — Singapore birth certificate, NRIC; (2) Elderly — Singapore NRIC showing age 67+; (3) Disabled person — Medical Disability Card or letter from registered medical practitioner. Apply through MyMOM Portal. Concession active from the next month after MOM verifies. Concessionary status reviewed when situation changes (child turns 17, elderly person no longer in household, etc.).

Levy vs Total Cost

Total monthly cost of an FDW typically S$1,200-S$1,800/month: levy S$60-$300 + helper salary S$650-$900 + insurance S$15-$30 + food/utilities S$150-$300 + occasional medical/training S$50-$100. The levy alone is S$720-$3,600/year. Concessionary households save S$2,880/year — significant for elderly-care or young-family households. Singapore Citizen / PR households can apply for additional Caregiver Training Grant (CTG) to offset costs.

Payment and GIRO

Levy due 17th of each month. Payment methods: GIRO (recommended — auto-deduct, no late fees), AXS station, Internet banking, MyMOM Portal. Late payment penalty: 10% of levy owed (capped at S$30) + further $20 admin fee if unpaid after 60 days. Continued non-payment can lead to FDW work-permit revocation. Always check security bond S$5,000 is in place (returned when helper finally departs).
