Connecticut Paid Leave (CT PFML) is a fully employee-funded program administered by the Connecticut Paid Leave Authority. For 2026, the contribution rate stays at 0.5% of wages, with the wage cap tied to the Social Security taxable base of $176,100. Employers do not contribute, but must withhold and remit on behalf of every covered worker.
2026 CT Paid Leave Contribution Details
Every covered Connecticut employee pays 0.5% of gross wages up to the SSA base. The maximum annual contribution in 2026 is approximately $880.50 (0.5% × $176,100). Self-employed individuals can opt into the program voluntarily — they pay the same 0.5% rate on their net earnings up to the cap, and must commit for three years before opting out.
How the Weekly Benefit Is Calculated
CT PFML uses a progressive replacement formula: 95% of your base weekly wage up to 40 times the Connecticut minimum wage, plus 60% of wages above that threshold. The maximum weekly benefit is $981.40 in 2026, equal to 60 times the state minimum wage. Lower-wage workers receive a much higher replacement rate, while higher earners hit the statutory ceiling regardless of salary.
