What do I need for a target CGPA?

How CGPA is calculated
Each course has a credit value and earns a grade point from the scale above. Multiply the grade point by the credit for every course and add the results: that is your total grade points. Divide by the total credits. Over one semester or year the answer is your GPA. Over every term so far it is your CGPA (cumulative GPA).
Example: four courses of 3 credits each with A (3.75), A- (3.50), B+ (3.25) and A+ (4.00). Grade points: 11.25 + 10.50 + 9.75 + 12.00 = 43.50. Credits: 12. GPA = 43.50 ÷ 12 = 3.63. A 4-credit course moves the average more than a 2-credit one, which is why a simple average of grade points gives the wrong answer when credits differ.
National University CGPA
National University (NU) honours, degree pass and masters results use the same letter grades and grade points on a 4.00 scale, with results published year by year. Enter each year's courses with their credits, or type the CGPA and credits already on your marksheet under “Earlier results” and add only the new year. NU certificates also state a class: CGPA 3.00 and above is first class, 2.25 to under 3.00 second class, and 2.00 to under 2.25 third class.
Failed courses, retakes and improvement
An F earns 0 grade points. Until you clear the course, most transcripts count its credits in the total, which pulls the average down sharply. Once you pass it on a retake, the new grade replaces the F. Universities differ on the details: some cap the grade after a retake, some keep both attempts, and each sets how many courses can be taken for improvement. CGPA to percentage
The grading scale turns marks into grade points, but it gives no official formula for turning a CGPA back into a percentage. Formulas found online, such as multiplying by 25 or by 20, are conventions and give different answers. If an application asks for a percentage, use the conversion your own university prints on the transcript or issues in a conversion certificate, or state your CGPA with the scale, for example “3.45 out of 4.00”.
